Music Celebration

The annual HJS music concert, online

Every Easter, we celebrate the musical talents of the children of Henleaze Junior School with a concert of ensemble and solo performances. This year's concert takes the form of an hour of pre-recorded items, mostly recorded by the children at home during lockdown. Fortunately, we all returned to school before Easter in time to record each of the classes singing. Although we can't physically put them all in the same room at the moment, we can still enjoy the glorious sound of 360 voices joining together to demonstrate The Power In The Music.

The Concert Singers is a group of children who auditioned and were selected last year to learn some songs especially for the concert. They were disappointed when last year's concert had to be cancelled, and very enthusiastic about getting together this year, mostly online, to practice and record Rainbows and Canyons. We added a few extra singers who impressed us with their contributions to our Christmas song, The Lights Will Lead Me Home. We hope that there will be more opportunities for this group to sing together, and for other children to join the group this year.

Many of our children learn to play musical instruments in school, and many more have lessons at home. For some, this concert willbe the first time that they have performed a piece to an audience. We have all thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to their pieces. Although we were not able to include them all in the programme for the main concert, we have put together separate films for each year group of all the recordings that were submitted. We really couldn't leave anyone out!

We've saved the songs and the solo performances separately on HJSTV. https://vimeo.com/showcase/8357393
