A pair of winners

HJS pupils win Mayor Marvin's competition

Daisy and Raya in Year 6 are a pair of winners!

Year 6 children entered Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees's competition to design a poster illustrating a vision of the city in 2030. The Mayor wants to engage young people in shaping the future plans for their home town. After all, today's Year 6 will be entering the world of work by 2030, many of them graduating from university or completing apprenticeships, equipped with the skills they will need to take charge after today's leaders have retired!

Daisy's poster has been chosen from all the entries from Bristol primary schools to be the image which will be used to launch the Bristol: One City Plan at the beginning of December. Raya's words, which she added to the back of her picture, have also been chosen as part of the presentation to leading figures from across the city. We are enormously proud of them.

We don't have a copy of the winning picture at the moment, but if we can get hold of one, we will post it in the Newsroom, along with Raya's description of Bristol 2030.

Marvin Rees launched the Bristol - One City campaign at the Festival of Ideas at the Watershed in October, with Bristol's youth mayors, Jack Payne and Eve Szczelkun. Eve is an ex-pupil of Henleaze Junior School.
