Greetings from Uganda

News of the Kasongoire library

Mr and Mrs Barber and Mr and Mrs Huckle arrived in Uganda at the weekend and have spent their first day in Kasongoire Primary School. We are absolutely delighted to be back with our friends in Uganda, and they are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Henleaze community. We are pleased to note that the bore hole which we repaired two years ago is still working, providing access to a safe water supply for the school, and library building at last has electric lighting provided by three solar panels on the roof.

We have made plans for our week in school with the headteacher, David, and his staff, and we have also met up with a Richard and Jackson, who visited Henleaze in 2015. Neither is still at the school. Jackson has retired, and Richard was transferred to another school last year. We have organised a football match between his new school, Bulyango, and Kasongoire on Thursday afternoon. Both teams will be wearing new football kit provided by Henleaze Junior School, with the support of Hayes Education, Bristol Inner City Football Academy and Long Ashton Football Club.
