Eggs and Music

An action packed final week of term

The last week of Term 4 has been full of everything that makes HJS such an exciting place to be!

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, our annual Music Evenings saw over 180 children performing to packed houses of 200 per night. We were treated to a wide range of acts, including solists, duets and large ensembles. As well as the children who learn to play instruments in school and who belong to our after school clubs, we were also delighted to hear from children who have music lessons outside of school. We particularly enjoy hearing children at all stages of their musical journey - from those who are just beginning, to those who have already passed several exams. It is impossible to pick favourite moments, but it is fair to say that Alice's piano composition and Yu Heng's virtuoso violin performance inspired everyone present and gave us all something to aim for.

Over 100 children attended on both evenings as part of our large groups: the Orchestra, Show Choir, Musical Theatre and Concert Singers each performed two or three pieces. It was wonderful to hear all of the children singing Love Is All with the orchestra accompanying. The evening ended with a premier showing of our new film, Love Is All, which features the children of Kasongoire Primary School and Henleaze Junior School singing together, ven though they are thousands of miles apart.

The 14th Great Henleaze Junior School Egg Race was bigger and better than ever!

There were a record number of entries and some really exciting new inovative designs.

We'll be updating the Egg Race page of the website over Easter, but meanwhile, here is a list of the winners.
