CBBC's Naomi Wilkinson caused quite a stir!

Naomi Wilkinson, star of many a children's TV series, visited our school on Monday 30th October 2017.

In a fascinating Assembly, she told the children how she had achieved her lifelong ambition of being a TV star as a result of hard work, determination, and being a total yeti, never giving up in the face of obstacles. She has kept all the rejection letters she got from TV companies as a reminder that you should stick at it if you really want to achieve your dreams.

Naomi has been working in children's TV for many years, and she showed us pictures of herself performing in shows such as Marrying Mum and Dad, All Over The Place and Wild and Deadly, with Steve Backshall. Best of all, she showed us clips from her series Naomi's Nightmares of Nature. She told us just how terrifying it is to confront your worst fears (in her case, giant spiders) but how gratifying it is when you overcome them. She advised us never to let fear prevent us from having a go at a challenge.

Naomi was a pupil at Henleaze Junior School herself, and was delighted to return to her old school for the first time as a grown up. She recognised her old classrooms (including the ancient  Year 3 hut) and remembered falling over and grazing her knees running in the Quiet Area. The HJSTV crew interviewed her after Assembly in The Oasis, our beautiful but somewhat overgrown pond area. They wondered if our pond might feature as one of Naomi's Nightmares of Nature!

Our wonderful parents' association, HENSA, arranged this celebrity vist as a treat for the children, to inspire them and reward them for their excellent attitudes to school and to the conservation of the environment.
