Year 6 13.9.17

Key messages for Year 6 from the second week of term

The children are continuing to impress us with their focus and enthusiasm and are embracing the challenges and opprotunities of year 6.

In Maths this week we have been focussing on place value up to 10,000,000 and rounding numbers. Next week, we will continuing with rounding and  using negative numbers. If you are practising at home it is really useful to try adding and subtracting across 0 e.g. -24 + 37

In English we have focussed on basic punctuation and grammar skills including identifying word classes. Next week we are looking at speech punctuation and beginning to draft a "Warning Story".

Our spelling rule this week is adding suffixes where the root word doesn't change.

E.g. switch + ing = switching
