Y6 Week 6

This week in maths, we are practising multiplication using short and long multiplication. We will be tackling the big topic of long division after half term so it is really important children are confident with their multiplication skills in preparation.

In English, we are planning letters from Camp Green Lake (Holes by Louis Sachar). We are thinking about character and emotion as well as the technical features of letter writing and are trying to show we can 'sound' like someone else when we write.

In spelling we are focussing on suffixes where the root word ends in a single consonant, in this case the consonant doubles before we add the suffix:

Begin + ing = beginning

Look out for the school comms about the trip to watch Twelfth Night in November - Bristol Old Vic have offered us a chance to see live Shakespeare at a reasonable price which is a fantastic opportunity for the children and should be an inspiring event!
