Year 4 working hard

This week in Maths, we have focused on place value looking at ordering and comparing numbers. We will be moving on to rounding whole numbers to the nearest ten, hundred and thousand next week.

In English, we have been focusing on describing settings using a range of devices, such as exciting adjectives, personification, alliteration, powerful verbs and similes. We have enjoyed sharing some wonderful examples in our classes.

We have started our Science topic 'States of Matter', looking at a variety of solids, liquids and gases.

Your child should continue to complete a minimum of three reads each week, reading aloud with an adult, which must be recorded in the yellow reading log book and handed into the class teacher.  We have been learning our six times table and next week we will focus on our 9 times table.

Spelling - Unit 2.

Hopefully your child has been learning the 6 words they logged in school for unit 1. We will be finishing unit 1 this week and moving on to unit 2 next week. Unit 2's spelling focus will be 'words ended in the sound zhuh - written as 'sure'.
